Essar Steel Limited is right here on the Adajan-Hazira Road, at 185, Maher Nagar. If you’ve driven down this way, you’ve probably passed us plenty of times. It’s a busy road with a lot of trucks and noise, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We handle the steel business for this side of Surat. It is not a very large place, just a simple setup with some computers and a table where we sit and talk to suppliers. Sometimes the dust from the road gets in, so we are always cleaning the windows. Most of the guys here have been with us for a long time. We don't go in for anything flashy. We just get the orders sorted and make sure the paperwork is mostly right. The traffic can be a nightmare in the evenings, so we usually try to wrap things up before the rush starts. Sometimes we stay late if there is a big project going on. You can usually find someone here from early morning. We aren't big on meetings or long emails; we prefer just talking to people face to face. The neighborhood in Gujarat is changing fast with all the new construction, but we just keep doing our bit. People know where to find us if they need steel. It is practical work, and it keeps us busy enough. No one wears a suit here, it’s just too hot for that anyway. We just work hard and go home.
