Essar Constrctions Ltd operates out of D2 in Payal Flats, which is right across from Bhulka Bhavan School in Adajan. Being near the school means things get pretty loud during the morning drop-off and when the kids leave in the afternoon, but we’ve gotten used to it. Surat is a fast-growing place, and Adajan is right in the middle of it all. Our office is on the ground floor, which makes it easy for guys to bring in equipment or for us to head out to a site quickly. The walls are covered in calendars and notes because there is always a lot to keep track of. We aren't big on decorations; the space is mostly filled with desks, chairs, and stacks of paper. The air conditioning struggles a bit when the Gujarat heat really kicks in, but we manage. Sometimes the neighbors from the other flats come by to chat, but mostly everyone gets along. It’s a tight-knit area. We spend most of our time out in the field, so the office is often empty until late in the day when we come back to finish up the logs. It’s a simple way of doing things, but it works for us. We don’t see any reason to make it more complicated than it needs to be. We just show up, look at the plans, and get to it without wasting any time on fancy talk or long lunches.
