You can find us at Tulsi Krupa Arcade, right near Aai Mata Chowk on the Puna-Kumbharia Road. It’s on the first floor, so you have to head up the stairs past the other shops. Garden Silk Mills Ltd. has been around this part of Surat for a long time. The office here isn't anything too fancy, just a place where we manage the fabric business. We deal with a lot of different silks and synthetics, and the rooms are often filled with sample swatches and ledgers. Puna-Kumbharia Road is always busy with trucks and commuters, so there’s a lot of noise coming in from the street. We spend our time talking to weavers and checking on the latest batches that come from the looms. Sometimes the colors don't come out exactly right, or the delivery is late, and we have to sort it out. It’s practical work, nothing like what you see in the glossy magazines. We’ve got a small team here, and most of us have been working together for years now. We know the local market well because we’ve seen it change so much over the decades. It’s mostly about making sure the cloth gets to where it needs to go. We don't spend much time on marketing or anything like that. We just focus on the material and the orders on our desks.
