Doaba Palace Roadlines

We are over at G 151 Umarwada, right near the New Sardar Market. If you know the market, you know how busy it gets around here. There are trucks and vans moving all the time, and the noise is just part of the day. Doaba Palace Roadlines has been operating out of this unit for a while. It’s a ground floor spot, which makes things easier for moving stuff in and out. The walls are painted a dull white and there are maps pinned up in a few places. We spend a lot of time on the phone, coordinating things and making sure everything is moving where it needs to go. It can get stressful when things are running late, but that’s just the nature of the business. We have a small bench outside where drivers sit and wait for their paperwork. The chai wala comes around twice a day and that’s usually when everyone takes a five-minute break. We don't have any glossy brochures or fancy meetings. Most of our business happens right here on the dusty floor of the office or over a quick chat near the market entrance. It’s a tough business but we’ve been doing it long enough to know the rhythm of the streets. We just focus on getting through the list of tasks every day and making sure the gate is locked properly at night when we finally finish.
