We are out on Demni Road at Damodar Threds Ltd. Our building is at 265/10/1/2/3, which sounds complicated but it's just a long stretch of industrial space. Inside, it’s all about the spindles. We have rows and rows of machines that never seem to stop spinning thread. It creates a kind of vibrating hum that you feel in your feet more than you hear in your ears. There’s white lint floating in the air most of the time, looking like tiny bits of snow. We have to wear masks sometimes when it gets too thick. The floors are concrete and have marks from where we drag the heavy bins of yarn. It’s a repetitive job, watching the threads to make sure they don't snap or get tangled. Our tea breaks are the highlight of the shift. We sit outside on the steps away from the noise for twenty minutes. The weather out here can be quite dry, so we’re always drinking water. We don’t have a big marketing team or anyone like that. It’s just the supervisors and the operators making sure the cones are wound tight. Sometimes the colors of the thread are really bright and make the whole room look different for a few days. Then we go back to white or black and it feels normal again. It’s just a steady rhythm we’ve got going here on Demni Road.
