D K Motors is tucked away on Bharthana Chanakyapuri Road 1. If you walk down that way, you’ll probably hear us before you see us. There’s always the sound of a wrench hitting the floor or an engine ticking over. We deal with a lot of grease and oil every day. Our hands are rarely clean, even after a good scrub. The shop floor is stained with years of work, but that’s just how a garage is supposed to look. We handle various types of vehicles that people bring in from around the Chanakyapuri area. Sometimes it’s just a simple oil change, other times we have to take half the motor apart to find a knocking sound. It’s slow work sometimes. We have a small bench where we keep our favorite tools. There’s a lot of waiting for parts to be delivered, so we spend that time cleaning up or talking to the guys from the shop next door. We don't have a waiting room with a TV or anything. People usually just stand around and watch us work or come back later in the evening. The sun sets right behind the building, and that’s usually when we start packing up the heavy tools. It’s honest work, and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. We just focus on the machines and getting them running again.
