Operating out of Ichchapore is a busy experience because of how close we are to the O.N.G.C. Char Rasta. Our office is number 16 in the Ajit Complex on Hazira Road. If you know this area, you know it is all about heavy industry and big trucks moving around all day and night. The dust from the road settles on everything, so we are constantly wiping down the desks. Working with cranes means we are always thinking about logistics and maintenance. There is no such thing as a quiet day here. Someone is always calling about a rental or a repair, and the air is thick with the smell of diesel and grease. We don't spend money on fancy decorations. Most of our space is taken up by logbooks, safety manuals, and heavy keys. We have a small area where we sit down with clients to go over the details of a job, usually over a cup of hot chai that’s a bit too sweet. The sun hits the front of the complex pretty hard in the afternoons, making it quite hot inside until the evening breeze kicks in. It is a tough environment but it’s where we belong. We’ve been at this for years and the routine of the yard and the office is just part of our lives now. We don't make big promises; we just show up and work.
