If you head down Udhna A V Road, you’ll find us at Plot Number 40. It’s a heavy industrial area, so there is always the sound of machinery and trucks idling nearby. We make bolts for the auto industry. The machines we use are quite loud and they’ve been around as long as I have, I think. We have to keep them oiled up so they don't seize up in the heat. Speaking of heat, it gets really warm in the shed during July and August. We have a few big fans, but they mostly just move the warm air around. There are about six of us working here daily. We know the sounds of the machines so well that we can tell if a bolt is being cut wrong just by listening. Our floor is always stained with oil, it’s just part of the job. We keep our records in a big old book in the small office cabin. People find us because they need specific bolts that are hard to get elsewhere. It isn't a clean or quiet job, but we take pride in the threads being straight. Sometimes the rain makes the road out front a mess, but we just keep the production going. It’s a basic life, making things that hold other things together. We usually close up around seven and head home to get some rest for the next day.
