Hafizbhai Razakbhai Matlawala

Our family has been here for a long time. The shop is Hafizbhai Razakbhai Matlawala. We are located at 3/503 in Navapurakumbharwada. It’s right near Tower Road and the Bhagal Char Rasta. If you know the Tower Road area, you know how crowded it gets. There are people and rickshaws everywhere. We sell matlas and other clay items. The shop is filled with pots of all sizes. They are stacked up high and you have to be careful not to knock them over. The floor is often covered in a bit of red dust from the clay. Navapurakumbharwada is an old part of the city. The buildings are close together and the lanes are narrow. We sit out front mostly, watching the traffic go by the Char Rasta. It’s a lot of manual work, moving these heavy pots around. Sometimes they break and we just have to sweep up the pieces. It’s not a fancy business with computers or air conditioning. We just have our fans and the shade of the shop. People come here when they need something for their home, especially when it gets hot and they want cool water. We’ve seen the tower at the road for years. It’s a landmark for everyone. We don’t really change much. We just keep the pots ready and wait for the next person to stop by. It’s a simple life here in the heart of Bhagal. The tea guy comes by twice a day and that’s about the most excitement we get.
