Asahi India Glass Ltd., Surat

Our place is over in Adajan Road, right beside the Sardar Bridge at 30, Anand Vatika Society. Being in Surat means it gets really humid during most of the year, and working with glass in this kind of weather is a bit of a sweaty job. We have been at this specific spot for some time now. It is a nice area, but it gets very busy because of the bridge being right there. We mostly handle glass for different needs around the city. Some days are packed with people coming in and out, and other days we are just reorganizing the stacks in the back. It is important to keep everything neat because glass is dangerous if it is just lying around in the wrong place. We are not a big corporate setup with receptionists sitting in suits. It is just us in our regular clothes getting things done. We talk to the truck drivers, check the delivery sheets, and make sure the glass doesn't get scratched up during the move. Sometimes we have tea together when the work slows down a bit in the afternoon. People in the society know us well. We do not do much advertising or anything like that. Usually, people just hear about us from their neighbors. It is just honest work day in and day out. We try to keep things fair so people keep coming back. It is a steady rhythm here and we like it.
