Chetna Lace

We are located at 76, Jay Narayan Ind. S0C, near Aanjana Farm in Dumbhal, Surat. Chetna Lace is basically a bunch of us working with threads and patterns all day long. The industrial society is usually crowded with trucks and tempos, especially in the mornings. It’s a busy part of Surat, and the noise of the machines never really stops. We’ve got our equipment set up and it runs pretty much all the time. It’s definitely not a quiet office job. We deal with a lot of local folks and sometimes people from further away who need specific patterns. The space is a bit cramped with all the rolls of lace and raw material stacked everywhere. We don’t really have a formal reception area or a waiting room. If you come in, you’ll likely just see someone at a machine or packing up a bundle for delivery. We focus on the work itself rather than making the place look pretty for visitors. It’s a practical environment for what we do. We’ve been in this spot for a while now and know all the neighbors well. Everyone around here is doing something similar, just trying to get their orders out on time. We use simple tools and keep a close eye on what’s coming off the line every hour. It’s a lot of manual work and checking things by hand to make sure it's right. That’s just the way it goes at Chetna Lace.
