Sareeka Sarees

Sareeka Sarees is run out of 802 Wing-A at the Anand Mahel Apartments. It’s not like a shop on the main road with a big glass window. Instead, people come up to the eighth floor to see what we have. Our living space often turns into a display area with sarees draped over chairs or spread out on the table. It’s a more personal way of doing things, I think. We have all kinds of fabrics, and the light in the apartment is good for showing off the colors. Sometimes the elevator is slow, or neighbors are chatting in the hallway, but that’s just apartment life. We don't have a staff of twenty people. It’s mostly family and maybe a helper when things get really busy during wedding season. We keep our stock in big cupboards and bring things out one by one. It’s quiet up here compared to the noise of the street below. We don't do big advertisements. Most people hear about us from their friends or family members who bought something before. We sit down, have some water or tea, and look through the different patterns. It’s a relaxed atmosphere. We aren't trying to be a big mall. We just like sarees and enjoy helping people find one that they actually like wearing for their functions. It’s a simple business done from home, and it works for us.
