Akshar Pursottam Saw Mill

If you are looking for our saw mill, we are right opposite the G. E. B. Substation. It is a landmark that everyone around here knows. Being near the substation means it’s a bit of a noisy corner, but the sound of our saws usually drowns out everything else anyway. We have sawdust in our clothes and in our hair by the end of every day. That is just how it is when you are cutting wood. We take in large logs and pieces of timber and cut them down to whatever size the customers need for their projects. It is physical work and it can be quite tiring, especially in the heat of the afternoon. We don't have a polished showroom; it is just the mill and the stacks of wood waiting to be processed. The smell of fresh-cut pine and teak is always in the air. We’ve been running this place for a long time and we know how to handle the machines safely. It’s a straightforward business. People bring us their requirements, we do the cutting, and they take the wood away. We don't spend much time on the computer or doing fancy paperwork. Most of our work is done with our hands and the big saws. It’s a bit messy and loud, but there is something satisfying about seeing a pile of wood turn into useful boards. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing every single day.
