Aakar Model Maker & Designer

You can find us up in Nanpura at 203. We’re a bit different from your standard design office because we spend most of our time actually building things by hand. Aakar Model Maker & Designer is basically a workshop where we turn blueprints into small physical models. There is always a smell of glue and cut wood in the air here. It’s a slow process and you need a steady hand to do it right. We use all sorts of materials like foam, plastic, and wood to create these miniatures. Most of our clients are architects or developers who need to show their ideas in 3D. It’s a lot of sitting at the workbench with magnifying glasses and small knives. We have a few designers here too who handle the digital side of things. Nanpura is a lively area, and our window looks out over a lot of activity, but we usually have our heads down. We’ve been doing this for a while and we’ve seen how much the technology has changed, but a physical model still has its own charm. It’s not the cleanest job—our clothes usually have bits of scrap on them by the end of the day. We don't have a big marketing team or a polished showroom. People find us because they need someone who can build things accurately. It’s a niche trade and we’re happy to keep doing it.
