You can find us at Nandlal Kunwar’s place in the village of Dharamdiha, which is part of the Phulparas block. It’s a rural setting, so things move a bit slower than they do in the big towns. Our office is small and keeps things very basic. We don’t have much in the way of decoration, just some calendars on the wall and a few shelves for the files. Most of our day is spent talking to neighbors who come in to deal with their accounts. Since it’s a village, we know almost everyone by their first name. We deal with the usual stuff like paperwork, recording entries, and making sure the cash is handled right. Sometimes the cows walk right past the window while we’re working. It’s a very grounded kind of life here. We don’t have a website or any of that high-tech stuff; we just rely on people knowing where we are and coming in when they need something. The heat in the summer can be tough, but we have a couple of fans that do the job. It’s a practical workspace for practical people. We aren't trying to change the world, just trying to provide a steady place for people in Phulparas to manage their things. It’s just us, a few desks, and a lot of patience for the daily grind of record-keeping. We hope to stay here for many years.
