Gammon India Limited

This is the road project office out here in Madhubani, specifically in the Supaul district. We are situated near Pratapganj. It’s a very hands-on environment because we are right where the work is happening. The office is basically a hub for the road construction we are doing in this part of Bihar. It’s not a permanent city office, so it’s got more of a field-base feel to it. There’s always dust on the boots and the sound of machinery somewhere in the distance. We have Pradeep and the rest of the crew here managing the daily schedules and the labor teams. Most of our day is spent outdoors or huddled over site maps in the back room. The weather can be tough, especially during the rains, but we just manage as best we can. We don’t have much in the way of amenities, just the basics like a kettle for tea and some sturdy chairs. It’s a lot of work making sure the road levels are right and the materials are being used properly. Communication with the head office can be a bit slow sometimes because of the location, but we make it work. It’s a rugged kind of life out here, but there’s a sense of getting something real built. We’ve been at this project for a while now and know the local landscape inside out. It’s a long haul, but we are making steady progress every day. This place is all about the work.
