Shapoorji Pallonji & Co. Ltd.

Our office is located at Q.No-3/3 in the St Rly Colony of Rourkela, over in the Sundargarh district of Orissa. It’s a railway colony, so it has that specific feel of a government-planned area with plenty of trees and old buildings. Shapoorji Pallonji & Co. Ltd. set up here to be close to the local industrial activity. The office itself is just a regular house that we’ve converted for work. We have desks in the main rooms and a lot of storage in the back for tools and equipment. It’s not a corporate headquarters by any means. We do a lot of our thinking while walking around the sites. Rourkela is a steel town, and you can feel that grit in the air. Our day usually starts early with a lot of tea and a look at the weather report. We manage the local labor and keep track of the materials coming in by rail or road. It’s a lot of coordination and sometimes things don't go as planned, but we figure it out. We don't use a lot of fancy software; mostly just notebooks and the occasional spreadsheet. It’s a small, tight-knit group of people. We’ve been here for a bit, and we know the neighborhood well. It’s just a place where we get our work done without any fuss. The trains go by at night, and we get ready for the next day.
