About Larsen & Toubro – Metals & Minerals in Sundergarh
We are based out of Room No. 8 in the New Engineering Hostel at Kansbahal. It’s a bit different from your usual office because it’s right where the staff lives. Orissa can be quite humid, and being in a hostel means there’s always something going on in the hallways. You hear people talking, doors slamming, and the general buzz of life. Our workspace is pretty simple—just a desk, a laptop, and some shelves for folders. It serves as our main point of contact here at the L&T site. We spend most of our time out on the field or in meetings, so this room is where we come back to finish the logs and send out emails. It’s a practical arrangement. The mess food is okay, but we often go out for a change of pace. Living and working in the same building means the day never really feels like it ends, but we’ve gotten used to that. We have a small window that looks out over the grounds, and sometimes you can see the local wildlife if it's quiet enough. There’s a sense of camaraderie here because we’re all in the same boat, far from home and working on the same project. We don’t have fancy carpets or glass partitions. It’s just a room where work gets done by people who know the business inside and out.
