Kohli Builders, C/O-Jindal Steel Ltd.

We run the Kohli Builders operations from the Jindal Steel Ltd. site over in Sorda. To get here, you have to come via Purnapani in the Sundargarh part of Orissa. It’s a very industrial setting, surrounded by the heavy machinery and the daily grind of the steel plant. Our office is not much to look at, just a practical room where we keep our logs and handle the site coordination. Since we are out in the 770035 area, it’s a bit of a trek from any major town, so we mostly just stay put during the day. The air is often heavy with the smell of the worksite and the dust from the gravel roads. We have a few desks and some old cabinets for our files. Usually, the morning starts with a lot of noise as the shifts change over at the steel works. It can get incredibly hot in this part of Orissa, so we try to do the most physical tasks before noon. After that, it’s mostly paperwork and phone calls while the fans hum in the background. There aren't many places to eat nearby, so we usually just bring tiffins from home. It is a long day every day, but being right here on the ground with the steel company makes things easier to manage. We have been working from this Sorda location for a long time now and are used to the rhythm of it.
