Shivalik Herbals

Working at Shivalik Herbals means spending our days on College Road. We are positioned right opposite Nirankari Bhawan, which is a large building that almost everyone in this area knows well. College Road is always full of life, with students from the nearby schools and local shoppers moving about at all hours. Our place here is quite modest and simple. We have a small storefront and a cluttered office area in the back where we keep all the herbal products and the daily paperwork. It smells a bit like dried leaves, roots, and various spices most of the time, which is actually quite a pleasant thing to work around. We have old wooden shelves lining the walls from floor to ceiling, and they are usually packed full of stock. We do not have a huge amount of space, so we have to be very careful about where we put things so we don't trip. There is a small, scratched desk by the front window where we sit to write out the bills for the customers. We know all the neighbors pretty well by now—the man who runs the stationery shop next door and the lady who has the fruit stall on the corner. It is that kind of friendly neighborhood. When the weather is nice, we usually leave the front door wide open to let the fresh air in, but in the winter months, we have to keep it shut tight to stay warm. We are not a big operation with hundreds of employees. It is just a few of us.
