Sanjay Gandhi Hospital

Out here in Agai the hospital is a bit of a quiet place compared to the big city centers. It is tucked away and serves the local people who live around this area. We don't have the massive crowds you see in Delhi but we stay steady with people coming in from the nearby fields and houses. The building is simple and doesn't have many floors. We have a small garden out front but the goats sometimes get in and eat the plants. The rooms inside are plain with white walls and basic beds. We use ceiling fans to keep the air moving when it gets humid. It is a slow pace of life here in Agai. We see a lot of seasonal illnesses especially when the weather changes. The staff usually brings lunch from home and we eat together in the small break room. Most of the patients we see are people we recognize from the village. It is a lot of talk about the crops and the weather while we do our work. We don't have high-tech gadgets or a big pharmacy. We just provide the basic care that people need without making a big fuss about it. The evenings are very still and you can hear the birds as the sun goes down. It is a humble place but it serves the people of Agai well enough. We keep the doors open and wait for whoever needs help.
