Champaran Foods

Our small setup is in Seharpur, which is part of Bara Chakia in East Champaran. We deal with food products and it is a very local operation. Most of what we do involves cleaning and packing things that come from the nearby farms. The building is simple and we use traditional methods for a lot of it. There is the smell of spices and grains in the air all day. We have a few rooms filled with sacks and some basic machinery for grinding. It is not a high-tech factory. We employ people from the village and we all know each other. The road to Seharpur can be rough after the rains so getting things to the market in Bara Chakia takes some time. We don't have a marketing department. We just pack the goods and send them out. Sometimes the power is out for half the day and we just sit and talk until it comes back. It is a slow pace of life here. We like the stuff we make because we eat it ourselves too. It is just simple food from a simple place. We don't have many visitors but we are always busy with the orders from the district.
