Yousuf General Store

Yousuf General Store is another shop located in Amira Kadal, Srinagar. We are also in Maharaja Bazar, which is a very traditional and old market area. Living and working in Srinagar means we see a lot of different weather, from hot summers to very cold winters. Our store is a place where locals come to get their everyday essentials. We have things like spices, household cleaners, and small hardware items. The shop is not very modern. We still use old wooden boxes for some of our stock. It has a certain smell of spices and old paper that you only find in these kinds of markets. We spend our days chatting with the regular customers who come by. Some of them have been visiting us since they were children. It is a small business, and we do everything ourselves, from cleaning the floors to unloading the crates. We don't have any fancy marketing or advertisements. People just know we are here in the bazar. Sometimes the streets are so crowded that it takes a long time for people to reach us. We just wait and keep the shop open. It is a simple way of living. We focus on having what people ask for and being honest about what we have in stock. Maharaja Bazar is our home, and the store is our life. We hope to stay here for many more years.
