Younis Provisional Store

Haba Kadal is a place with a lot of history and we are glad to be a part of it here in Srinagar. Younis Provisional Store is just a small room filled with the things people need for their kitchens. We have big sacks of rice and containers of tea leaves because everyone around here drinks a lot of tea to stay warm. The air gets very cold in the winter months and the shop can feel a bit chilly, but we keep the lights on and the door unlocked. We don't have any polished floors or modern displays. It’s just old wooden counters and shelves that have seen better days. People stop by on their way home to grab a loaf of bread or some salt. We hear all the news about the neighborhood while we are weighing out spices. 190001 is our pin code and we’ve been in this area for a long time. It’s a quiet life most of the time. We don’t use any fancy machines to keep track of things, just our memory and a little till. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to use candles, but the customers don’t mind. They know us and we know them. We aren't trying to grow into a big chain or anything. We just want to make sure the people in Haba Kadal have a place to get their daily supplies without having to walk too far. The days are long but we like the routine of it all.
