V K Travels

Our office is at House No 17-A in Wazir Bagh, which is part of the 190001 area in Srinagar. V K Travels is basically a small family-run type of thing. We operate right out of this building on the Srinagar-Jammu stretch. It’s a quiet enough neighborhood most of the time, though the main road is close by. We handle a lot of the local travel needs for people coming through Wazir Bagh. Mostly, it’s about getting people into cars and making sure they know where they are going. We’ve lived in this house for a long time, so we know every corner of the city. We don't use a lot of fancy technology, just the phone and a few contacts we’ve made over the years. When someone calls, it’s usually one of us picking up the phone directly. We don’t have a call center or anything like that. If the weather is bad, we spend a lot of time checking the road conditions to Jammu. It’s a tough route sometimes. Our desk is usually covered in papers and tea cups. We just keep things moving as best as we can. It’s not a polished business, just a regular travel desk in a residential area. We do our work, help the people who find us, and then close up for the evening. It’s a simple life and we enjoy the people we meet along the way. Sometimes the kids are playing in the street outside while we work.
