Our office is on the second floor of the Madni-O-Parvana building, which is part of the Masjid Building complex in Gow Kadal, Srinagar 190001. It’s right at the Main Chowk in Basant Bagh. It’s a bit of a climb up the stairs, but it gives us a good view of the intersection below. This isn't your typical storefront business. Since we are the Travel Agents Association Of Kashmir, we have a lot of different people from the trade coming through these doors. The building feels lived-in and has that specific smell of old wood and stone. We spend a lot of time in meetings or just sitting around the large table discussing things that affect all the agents. It’s a lot of talk, a lot of tea, and sometimes a bit of arguing about how things should be done. We don’t have a marketing department or a fancy lobby. It’s just an office where work gets done for the collective. The stairs can be a bit steep if you aren't used to them, but most of the people who come here are used to the old buildings of Srinagar. We have some old photographs of the valley on the walls that have started to yellow at the edges. Being in Basant Bagh, we are right in the thick of the old city vibes. The calls to prayer from the mosque downstairs structure our day. We try to keep things organized, even when the paperwork piles up. It’s a community-driven place, really.
