Sultan General Store

The store is right here on the Main Road in Dalgate, just a few steps from Sultan Bakery. People around Drugjan know us well because we’ve been around quite a while now. It gets pretty busy on this road, especially with the cars and people heading towards the lake. We keep the usual things you’d expect to find in a general store. If you are walking by the bakery, you can’t really miss us. It’s a small place but we try to keep it organized enough so people can find what they want without asking too many questions. Sometimes the morning rush is a bit much, but that is just how it is in Srinagar. We open up early and stay until things quiet down in the evening. It is not fancy here. There are shelves full of basic items, some snacks, and stuff for the house. We know most of the neighbors by face. If we don't have something, we usually tell you where else to look. The shop is just a regular part of the street. Nothing more to it really. Just a place where you can grab milk or some biscuits without making a big deal out of it. We spend a lot of time tidying up the jars and making sure things aren't too dusty, but with the road right there, it is a constant job. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit there with a torch until it comes back. It's just a simple shop.
