You can find us over at Javeed Ahmad’s place in Bonapora, which is right in the Batamaloo area. It’s a very busy part of town, so there is always a lot of noise and activity outside our door. The Sro Kashmir Social Reforms Organisationfoundation is just a small group of us trying to make things a little better around here. We don't have a fancy office or a big sign out front. Most people just know us as the folks who work from that house in Bonapora. It’s a bit crowded inside sometimes because we have a lot of work to do and not much space. We don't spend any time on polishing our image or writing fancy reports. We prefer to spend our time out in the streets or talking to people who come by. Batamaloo is a place where everyone knows everyone’s business, so word of mouth is how people hear about us. We handle social issues in a very direct way. If someone has a problem, they come and tell us, and we see what we can do. It’s not a corporate environment at all. It’s just local people helping other local people. Some days it is exhausting, and the paperwork piles up, but we keep at it. We’ve been here a long time and we feel like a real part of this neighborhood's fabric.
