Skims Hospital

Down in Soura, Srinagar, you'll find Skims Hospital. It’s a big place, and it’s almost always busy from morning until night. Being in Kashmir, we see all kinds of weather, from the heavy snow in winter to the nice summers, and the hospital is a major part of the landscape here. There are always people coming in from all over the valley for various reasons. It’s definitely not a quiet place. There are crowds, ambulances, and families waiting everywhere you look. We do what we can to keep things moving. The staff here works long hours, and it’s often very tiring. It’s a government-run sort of environment, so it has that specific feel to it. No fancy decorations, just lots of hallways and rooms. We deal with everything from small issues to really serious stuff. It’s a lot of pressure, but we’re used to it by now. Soura is a busy area because of the hospital, and you see tea stalls and pharmacies all around the gates. We’ve been part of this community for a long time. Everyone in Srinagar knows where we are. It’s a landmark, really. We just focus on getting through the day and helping the people who show up at the door. It’s hard work, and it’s often messy with so many people, but it’s what we do. We just keep the place running as best as we can under the circumstances.
