Sheikh Provisional Store

Sheikh Provisional Store is located in Batamaloo, which is a very busy part of Srinagar. We are just a short walk from the Police Control Room. Being in such a central spot means we see all kinds of people every day. We carry all the daily essentials like flour, oil, tea, and other kitchen staples. The shop is usually crowded because Batamaloo is a hub for transport and people moving around the city. We don't have much space to move around inside, so things are stacked pretty high on the shelves. It’s a lot of work keeping everything organized, and sometimes it looks a bit messy, but we know where everything is. My brothers and I take turns sitting at the front. We have been here for years, and we’ve seen the area change quite a bit, but the shop stays mostly the same. We don’t do any advertising or anything like that. People just know we are here. Srinagar winters can be tough, and we try to make sure we have enough supplies for when the roads get blocked. It’s just a plain, honest business. We try to be helpful when someone is looking for something specific. It isn't a fancy supermarket, just a local corner store for the people living and working around Batamaloo. We open up every morning and stay until the evening rush settles down. There is always a lot of noise from the buses and the crowd outside, but we like it here.
