Shabir Provisinal Store

Our little shop is located in Khawaja Bazar, right in the Khanyar area of Srinagar. It is a traditional provisional store where we keep all the daily necessities for the local kitchens. You can find different types of tea, spices, and grains stored in large jars and sacks. The atmosphere in the bazar is always lively, and we are right in the middle of it. When the weather gets cold in Srinagar, the shop feels a bit snug with all the goods packed in tightly. We have been serving the people around here for a long time, and many of our customers are more like friends who stop by to talk as much as they do to shop. We don't have any modern barcodes or scanners; we just know the prices and do the math in our heads or on a small notepad. It can be a bit slow in the winter months when the snow is deep, but we still open up for those who need their basic supplies. We spend the day weighing out portions of rice or pulses and talking about how the day is going. The shop isn't anything special to look at from the outside, but it has everything a family needs to keep their home running. It’s just a honest, simple way of doing business in Khawaja Bazar, where everybody knows each other and we just take it one day at a time.
