You can find us over at the Fruit Mandi in Sopore, specifically in Apple Town. Our spot is at Fud No. 9a, Shed 9, but we also have ties over in Hmt Zain and Hmt Zainakote in Srinagar, Kashmir. It’s a lot of moving around between the two places depending on what the season is like. When the apples start coming in, this place gets incredibly busy and there’s hardly any room to move. We deal with a lot of the local growers who bring their crates in every morning. It’s loud, there’s a lot of shouting, and everyone is trying to get their business done quickly. Our office is just a simple room near the shed where we keep the books and take a break when things slow down. The floors are usually covered in some bit of straw or wood shavings from the crates. We’ve been part of the mandi scene for a long time, so we know most of the faces around here. It’s a hard way to earn a living sometimes, especially when the weather doesn't cooperate with the harvest, but it’s what we know. We don't spend money on fancy signs because the trade happens face to face. You talk to people, you agree on a price, and you move the product. That is how we’ve always operated and it works for us. We just keep our heads down and handle the daily rush as it comes.
