Rainbow General Store

Rainbow General Store has been a part of Dalgate for a long time. We are situated right on the Main Road, very close to the J and K Bank. Being in Srinagar, we see a lot of different faces, from locals who live just around the corner to people passing through the Dalgate area. Our shop is just a basic general store. We keep a variety of things like tea, sugar, flour, and all the usual stuff you’d expect to find. It’s a small space, so we have to use every inch of the walls for shelving. In the winter, it gets quite cold, so we usually have a small heater going while we wait for customers. The Main Road is always busy with cars and people, so there is a lot of noise outside, but it’s a good spot to be. We don’t have any fancy signs or modern decor. It’s just old-fashioned wooden counters and stacks of goods. We open up early in the morning because that’s when people want their fresh supplies. It’s hard work sometimes, hauling heavy bags of rice or crates of cold drinks, but it’s what we do. We’ve been here through all sorts of weather and changes in the city.
