Ragavardhani Music School

Ragavardhani Music School is right on the Main Road in Raj Bagh, Srinagar. We’re located in the actual school building there, which is easy enough to find if you're in the 190008 area. Music is what we do here every day. It’s not like a regular school where you hear people reciting math facts; instead, you hear instruments and singing. The building isn't very large, but it’s enough for the students who come to learn. Raj Bagh is a well-known part of Srinagar, and being on the Main Road means we get a lot of noise from the traffic outside, but we try to focus on the sounds inside. We don’t have any fancy recording studios or high-tech equipment. It’s mostly just people sitting with their instruments and practicing. We've been here for a while, and the neighborhood has seen a lot of changes, but we just keep teaching music. The rooms are simple, with some chairs and a few stands. We don’t put out brochures or have a big team of people trying to sell what we do. If someone wants to learn music, they find us and walk through the door. It’s a very grounded, practical place. We don't make big promises; we just provide a space and some time for music in the middle of a busy city like Srinagar.
