Promoting Kashmir

Promoting Kashmir is based near Nehru Park on Boulevard Road. We are very close to Dal Lake and Dalgate, so it’s a very busy area for tourists and locals alike. You can see the Shikaras moving on the water from just outside our door. We set up here because it is the heart of the city's travel scene. The office is just a small room where we handle bookings and answer questions. We spend a lot of time explaining the different parts of the valley to people who have never been here before. It's not a fancy setup at all. We have a couple of desks and a lot of maps pinned to the walls. Sometimes the power goes out, and we have to wait a bit to get back to work. That is just part of life in Srinagar. We don't use any scripts when we talk to people. We just say what is on our minds and try to help out. Most of us grew up around Dalgate, so we know every corner and alley of this place. We deal with hotels, cars, and trek planning. It’s hard work, but we enjoy being near the lake. The air is a bit different here. We don't have a huge marketing budget or fancy slogans. We just rely on the fact that we are in a good location and we know our stuff. It’s a local operation, through and through. We usually stay open until the sun goes down and the lake gets quiet. It is a good place to be.
