Power Development Department

Power Development Department is located at 164-165, Govt. Housing Colony in Bagh-I-Mehtab, Srinagar. This is in the Jammu and Kashmir region, and the pin code is 164 165. Being in Srinagar means we deal with some pretty cold winters, so the office is often filled with the smell of heaters running. The building is part of a housing colony, which makes it feel a bit more like part of the neighborhood than a distant government building. We have been in Bagh-I-Mehtab for a while. Inside, it looks like a typical department office. There are big wooden tables and lots of ledgers and folders. We have a lot of people coming in and out to discuss power issues and the local grid. It can get quite busy during the peak seasons when everyone is worried about their electricity. The staff here are mostly local people who know the area well. We don't have any polished mission statements or fancy branding. It is just a place where we try to manage the power needs of the community. Sometimes the power goes out in the office itself, which is a bit ironic, but we just get back to work once it’s back. It’s a very grounded and real place. We just focus on the day-to-day requirements of the department and the people we serve in India. It is a straightforward way to spend the day.
