Om Shiv Tours

My shop, Om Shiv Tours, is situated right in the middle of the Main Bazar in Srinagar. We are located very close to Dal Lake, so we see many people walking by our window every single day. The bazar is always quite noisy with all the different shopkeepers and the tourists, but it is a good place to be if you want to be in the center of things. I started this business because I have lived here my whole life and I know these roads very well. We mostly arrange cars and shikara rides for people who are looking to see the lake or the mountains nearby. It gets very hectic when the tourist season is at its peak. I usually sit at the front desk myself and talk to whoever happens to walk in. We don't have a big corporate team or anything like that, just a few of us who understand how things work here. The office is tucked away near the lake side, so it stays a little cooler even when the sun is out. We help people figure out where they should stay and how they can get around without getting stuck in too much traffic. It is honest work for us. I know which routes are better during different times of the day. People ask a lot of questions about the houseboats or the weather, and I just tell them the truth about what to expect. We don't try to sell anything extra.
