Nisar Provisional Store

Nisar Provisional Store is located in the old part of Srinagar, in a place called Dukani Sangeen near Fateh Kadal. This is a very old neighborhood with narrow streets and lots of history. Our store fits right in with the surrounding buildings. We sell all the daily provisions that families around here need, like flour, rice, tea, and spices. It is the kind of shop where everything is stored in large jars or sacks. The atmosphere in Fateh Kadal is quite different from the newer parts of the city. It is more traditional, and people take their time. I spend a lot of my day weighing out items and chatting with the older men who have lived here their whole lives. We don't have any of those fancy barcode scanners. Everything is done by hand. Sometimes the shop feels a bit dark because the buildings are so close together, but it stays cool in the summer which is nice. In the winter, we all huddle around and keep the shop open as long as the weather allows. It’s a quiet life, really. We aren’t looking to become a big supermarket. We just want to keep serving the local people who have been coming to us for years. It’s just a small, honest store in a corner of Srinagar that hasn’t changed much over time. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing every single day of the week.
