New Kashmir General Store

New Kashmir General Store is located in the Kara Building within the Wani Market area of Batamaloo, Srinagar. We are very close to the General Bus Stand, which means our shop is always full of travelers and people coming in from different parts of the valley. It’s a very hectic spot to be in, but we enjoy the energy of the bus stand area. We stock a wide variety of goods because you never know what a traveler might need at the last minute. We have snacks, warm drinks, toiletries, and even some basic hardware items. The shop isn't very big, so we have boxes stacked up quite high. In the winter, it gets very cold here, and we all huddle around the small heater while waiting for customers. We’ve been here for quite some time now and have seen many people pass through the Kara Building. We aren't a fancy outlet. We just provide a place where you can get your essentials before you catch your bus or when you arrive in the city. My cousins and I take turns managing the counter so the shop stays open for long hours. It’s a busy life, but it keeps us connected to everyone moving through Srinagar. We just try to keep things moving and help out whoever walks in.
