Mohammad Yaseen

My name is Mohammad Yaseen and I run this little shop in Kalwal Mohalla. It’s located in the Rainawari area of Srinagar. I’ve lived in this neighborhood all my life, so opening a place here just made sense. It is a quiet spot most of the time, away from the main tourist paths. I sell things that people in these houses nearby use every day. You know, basics like spices, tea, and some snacks for the kids. In the winter when it gets cold and snowy, the shop becomes a place where people might stop for a quick chat while they pick up their groceries. It is not a supermarket by any means. It’s just a room with shelves and a counter where I spend most of my day. I handle everything myself, from ordering the stock to sweeping the floor at night. Living in 190003 has its own rhythm, and my shop follows that. I don't use any fancy systems, just a simple way of doing things that has worked for years. Some days are slow and I just sit and watch the street, and other days it’s one person after another. I try to keep what people ask for so they don't have to go all the way to the bigger markets. It's a modest business, but it keeps me busy and connected to my neighbors in Rainawari. I plan to stay here as long as I am able to work the counter and serve the folks in the mohalla.
