Mir General Store

The shop is based in Magam, over in the Budgaon area, but we also deal with things going towards Jammu. It’s a general store, so we stock the usual household goods and groceries that people look for every day. We’ve been operating from here for a while now. The location is quite central for folks living in the nearby villages and the main town. We spend a lot of our time checking the inventory and making sure the staples like flour, oil, and sugar are always available. It gets pretty busy during the mornings when everyone is out doing their chores. Since we also serve Jammu, there’s a bit of logistics involved, which keeps us on our toes. It’s not just about sitting behind a counter; there’s a lot of lifting and moving boxes around. We are just local people running a business to help other local people. We don’t use any big words or have a complicated way of working. You come in, find what you need, and that’s about it. The weather in Budgaon can be a bit unpredictable, but we keep the doors open regardless. We see a lot of different faces, some traveling through and others who live just down the street. It’s a modest setup, nothing too special to look at, but it works for us and the people we serve. We just keep our heads down and do the work required to keep the place going smoothly.
