Matoo Provisional Store

Down in Karafali Mohalla, you will find Matoo Provisional Store. We are tucked away in Haba Kadal, right in the middle of the old part of Srinagar. The streets are narrow here and you can hear the sounds of the neighborhood all day long. Our shop is full of the basic stuff like flour, oil, and soap. We don’t have a lot of space, so things are piled up pretty high. You might have to wait a minute while I climb up to grab something from the top shelf. It is a simple life being a shopkeeper here. We get the morning rush when people want fresh milk and then it goes quiet until the afternoon. The building is old and the wooden floorboards creak when you walk on them. We have been serving the people in this mohalla for quite a while now. We don't use any fancy marketing tricks or big posters. Our address at 190001 is easy to find if you know these lanes. Some days are slow and I just sit by the window and watch the birds or the people walking by with their heavy coats on. We keep the prices steady and the talk honest. It’s not a fancy business, just a way to earn a living and help the neighbors get what they need for their dinner. We like it here in this corner of the city and plan to stay as long as the neighbors keep coming by for their tea and salt.
