M K General Store is located in Nowshera, Srinagar, right at the Main Chowk near Vicharnag. Being at a main chowk means we see the whole world go by from our front door. Srinagar is a beautiful place, but running a shop here has its challenges, especially with the weather and the traffic. We carry all the basic things a household might need. We aren't a big supermarket, just a local store where you can get your daily supplies without having to travel far. We spend our mornings checking the stock and dusting the counters. The area around Vicharnag is busy, so there’s always someone popping in for a loaf of bread or some tea leaves. We don't have any polished marketing speeches. We just know our products and our customers. Many of the people who come in have been shopping with us since we first opened. We try to keep the prices fair and the shelves full. It’s not always easy to get deliveries when the roads are blocked or the weather is bad, but we do our best to stay open. We don't use any corporate language or have any big "visions" for the future. Our goal is just to be here every day and help the people in Nowshera find what they need for their kitchens. It’s a simple, busy life and we’ve gotten used to the rhythm of the chowk over the years.
