Kawa Retailers is situated in Sanat Nagar, Srinagar. We are right in the middle of the residential area, so we get a lot of neighbors coming in throughout the day. The shop is a straightforward retail outlet. We carry a lot of household goods, from cleaning supplies to everyday food items. It’s a small operation. We don’t have a lot of staff, usually just one or two of us behind the counter. The shelves are packed tight because we try to fit as much as possible into the space we have. You might see some boxes stacked near the entrance when the distributor comes by in the morning. We try to keep things neat, but with so many small items, it’s a constant job to straighten the rows of jars and packets. The floors are concrete and we keep them swept as much as we can. People around here know us by name, and we know what they usually buy before they even ask. It’s a quiet life most of the time, except for when the school kids come by for sweets in the afternoon. We don’t do anything special or fancy. We just open the shop, wait for customers, and make sure we have what they are looking for. It’s a basic business that serves the people living right here in Sanat Nagar. Most of our days are spent just keeping things in order and helping out whoever walks through the front door.
