Dalgate is the place everyone knows because of the lake, but we are tucked back a bit in Kohan Khan, Srinagar 190001. Our office for Kashmir Fiza Tours is near the Mamat Hoel. It’s a lively area, full of tourists and locals mixing together. We’ve been operating from this spot for a good while. The street is narrow, and you can always hear the sounds of boats and taxis nearby. It isn't a quiet office by any means. We have people coming in and out all day, mostly drivers checking their routes or guests asking about the right time to head up to the mountains. We keep things very basic. A couple of computers, some maps pinned to the wall that have seen better days, and a lot of notebooks. Sometimes the smell of cooking from the hotel next door drifts in, making us all hungry before the lunch hour even starts. We don't have a big sign with lights on it. Just a simple board so people know they’ve reached the right place. The Mamat Hoel is a good landmark, so people rarely get lost trying to find us. We aren't some big travel giant. We are just a local team that knows the shortcuts around the valley. Sometimes we stay late when a group is delayed, just to make sure they get to their rooms okay. It’s just the way we do things here in Kohan Khan. You get to know the neighbors and the bakeries.
