J&K Police Srinagar

J&K Police Srinagar has a post here at H.No. 90 in Lal Nagar, Channapora. It is right in the middle of the residential area. It isn't a big police station with cells and a lot of noise. It is more of a local point where people can come if they have a problem in the neighborhood. We are usually here round the clock, just sitting in the front room or standing by the gate. Channapora is a busy part of Srinagar, and Lal Nagar has its own set of daily issues. We deal with small disputes, traffic problems, or just people asking for directions. The office is quite plain. We have a few benches for visitors and some old cupboards for the files. Sometimes it gets very busy if something happens nearby, but mostly it is just routine work. We know most of the shopkeepers on the main road and the people who live in the lanes behind us. When the winter comes, the room gets quite chilly, but we have our tea to keep us going. It is not like what you see on the television. It is mostly just paperwork and talking to the public about their concerns. We try to keep the peace and make sure everything stays orderly in our corner of the city. We have been at House Number 90 for a long time now.
