Idres Brick Industries

We are located in Shidipura, right near the Station Road in Badgam. It’s a busy area, and there’s always something happening around the brick kilns. We’ve been part of this community for a long time. People around here know the Idres name when it comes to bricks. We don’t put on any airs or act like we are bigger than we are. It’s just me and a few workers trying to keep up with the demand. The smoke from the chimneys is part of the landscape now. We spend most of our time out in the yard checking on the drying process. If it rains, we have to run out and cover everything up fast. It’s a bit of a gamble with the weather sometimes. Our office is just a small room with a desk and some chairs where we drink tea and talk to customers. We don’t use any complicated systems. If you want bricks, we tell you what we have and when we can send them over. Being near the station helps with logistics, though the traffic can be a headache. We just want to do our job and go home at night feeling like we did a fair day’s work. There aren't any big secrets to making bricks, just hard work and being patient with the fire. We’ll probably be here for a long time to come, doing the same thing day after day for the people of Badgam.
