Gulzar Provisinal Store

People usually just call us Gulzar’s. We have been here in Nowhatta for quite a while now. The shop is right on the main street and it stays busy because of the location near the Jamia Masjid area. It is a small place but we try to keep most things people need for their kitchens every day. You will find bags of rice, different kinds of dals, and tea leaves that everyone here likes. Sometimes the weather in Srinagar gets really cold, so we make sure to have enough stock so folks don't have to walk too far in the snow. I start the day early, mostly around eight, to get things ready before the first lot of customers shows up. It is not a fancy place with bright lights or anything, just a regular store where you can get your groceries and maybe chat for a minute. We know most of the people who come in by their names because they live right around the corner. If something is not on the shelf, I usually tell them to come back the next afternoon after the delivery truck passes by. It is a simple way of living and working here in Srinagar 190002. We don't really do big advertisements or anything like that. Just keeping the doors open and making sure the flour and oil are fresh is enough to keep us going.
