Gulistan General Store

This store is right at the Main Chowk in Hyderpora, just along the New Airport Road. Being in Budgam means we see a lot of people passing through on their way to the airport. It is a busy spot, especially in the mornings when the traffic starts picking up. I have lived around here for years, so running the Gulistan General Store feels like a normal part of the day. The shelves are packed with flour bags, lentils, and all the usual kitchen stuff families need. Sometimes the floor gets a bit dusty because of the road construction nearby, but I try to mop it when I get a chance. We keep the tea and spices right at the front where people can reach them easily. The weather in Budgam can get really cold, so we spend a lot of time inside with the heater on during the winter months. Customers come in for a chat while they wait for their sugar to be weighed. It is not a big supermarket or anything like that. It is just a corner shop where we know most of the faces. I write down the daily sales in a thick notebook. Sometimes I forget where I put the pen. The sign outside is a bit old, but it still does the job. Most of the work is just lifting boxes and making sure the jars are full. It is honest work and keeps me busy throughout the day.
