Gousia General Store

You can find Gousia General Store in Humhama, right on the New Airport Road over in Hyderpora. Being on the way to the airport means we see a lot of different people. Some are just passing through Budgam, while others are neighbors we have known for years. The weather here in Kashmir changes a lot, so we have to adjust what we keep in stock. In the winter, we make sure there is plenty of tea and warmth, and in the summer, we stock more cold drinks. The shop is a bit small, and we have boxes stacked in the corners most of the time. It can get a bit messy when a big shipment arrives and we haven't had time to put it all away yet. We sell a bit of everything—groceries, household items, and some stationery too. The traffic on New Airport Road is constant, so there is always a hum of engines in the background. It’s a family-run thing, and we take pride in just being here every day. We don't do any big advertising; people just know we are here. Sometimes the internet is slow and we can't use the digital payments easily, but we figure it out. It’s a busy life but we wouldn't know what else to do. We just keep the lights on and help whoever walks through the door. It is a simple place for your daily needs.
